Giraffes don’t drink much water because their favorite food, acacia leaves, contain a lot of it. That’s a good thing too. When giraffes do get thirsty, they have to bend those long necks down to the water. This awkward position makes them an easy target for predators. Zookeepers put buckets in giraffes’ enclosures, but up high so they don’t have to bow down for a drink.
